Hadouken! blows my speaker

So I was actually going to do an "On this day. . ." post about last year's NME awards tour and seeing BYOP for the first time, but I discovered this and it's way more inspiring.

I heard their remix of Bloc Party's 'The Prayer' on Good Weather for Airstrikes and had to know more. So I stumbled onto their myspace and it pretty much sealed the deal. Well, actually watching the above video did since at first I thought they were just a remix crew that played instruments, but after seeing the vid I am now fully aware of how crazily original they are.

Plus they're all cool in that Panic! at the Disco way with their exclamation point.

They have a blog that fills you into what they're listening to: http://www.hadoukenblog.blogspot.com/

'The Bounce' Hadouken! MP3

P.S. Oh-and according to this they're still doing remixes for free. Not for long I assume.

P.P.S. I'll likely still do the originally planned post, just do it in February and back date it. NotGL will likely/hopefully return to regular posting in February. Stay tuned.

First Class I Hail

So my NYC trip in February is nearly all ironed out! I fly in on either the 8th or 9th and am doing a load of amazing activites, but the thing I am now most looking forward to is seeing Uffie on the 15th!!!!!! So EXCITED!!!! And it was like just announced! Plus Arcade Fire are doing a five night stand while I'm there and Sonic Youth, who I have yet to see, are playing on the 16th. Should be fun, plus I'll be there on at least one Saturday so I will be popping into Misshapes.
Most of the trip will be appointments with buyers about my clothing line Scam Artiste and I may still be doing those polaroids of Shy Child, but at this point I may be too busy cos I have a load of other things unrelated to clothes or music going on too.
ANYWAY, I'm TOO excited for Miss Uffie (of course)!
Too excited!

By Request

Notgl_spiritfingers

First I'd like to give shout outs to readers from Lambeth London and some place in Texas who don't ever say anything, but sitemeter tells me they drop by on a very regular basis, so. . .
Got a request from Jose for the Metronomy track-it is currently the second most played song in my itunes. I can't stop listening to it and apparently neither can Jose :)
Included it in my Partie Partie Podcast, and here it is on it's own.

'Circa 2000' Metronomy MP3

Like postcards we can't read, decipher languages. . .

And here is an awesome Metronomy video I stumbled across a bit back-

I went to Spank Rock forever ago

The mini-review pretty much sums up the events of the concert. There was some ugliness in regards the arrangement of me taking posed photos of them which didn't end up happening. I hate their tour manager to make it short.

Notgl_bracepaine

Nathan aka The Gossip's Brace Paine was in attendance. I see him EVERYTIME I go out. Above is him requesting 'Lindsay Lohan'.
After the Pitchfork item got posted I forwarded him the link and he replied that Spank Rock will be playing a regular set at Dunes in the new year sometime in January or February (they just had their aftershow there this time around) and he's placing me on the guest list because I made a mention of him in my item! All the more reason to be in lust with him. I'm not even into SR, but I will be turning up.

Notgl_spankrockladies

All the ladies got onstage at the end-I got up and stayed for two songs and am still trying to track down someone who got a shot of me up there as there was about a million people taking photos. I've tracked down a few of the people, but alas no luck. Still, their shots are worth a peek-such as .damien and Todd Cooper. I appear in one of Todd's shots, but not on stage-I'm looking down at my camera from the audience deleting images.

Afterwards I basically wanted to become celebate for the rest of my life-even if Brace Paine were to magically fall in lust with me. If that's not a ringing endorsement for seeing them live, I don't know what is.
