Are you up for some moving and grooving? I certainly was when I headed down to Tube last Tuesday. When I arrived, it was packed even more than usual for a reason unknown to me at the time. DJ Linoleum dropped the hits as usual, throwing in some remixed 80's cuts too. Amid Nelly Furtado's 'Maneater' and Uffie's 'Hot Chick' came a song I didn't know with lyrics right to the point.
"Fuck the DJ. Fuck the DJ. Come on, fuck the DJ - I'm the mother fucking star."
After getting down to it for a minute I turned around to ask who it was as it was far too cool to float on without knowing the artist and imagine my surprise when I turned around to see not Andrea behind the decks, but a cute girl in leopard print leggings and skeletal top scaling the wall and rocking the mic alongside her musical comrade with glasses and the inevitable laptop.

I wasn't expecting a live set that night in the least, but it was a welcomed excursion! Miss Linoleum mentioned that was a direction she wanted to go in when participating in Thin Pink Line, which she just departed. Purple Crush's set made me grateful the idea didn't stay confined fully to Thin Pink Line and migrated over to No No No Disco, at least for one night.
Purple Crush had the crowd getting down to their sassy songs and dance moves to match over the course of their at least five song set that included a Stacey Q cover (or maybe it was a Brad Walsh cover :), 'Running up That Hill', and 'Shopping on the Dancefloor'.
The speakers were blowing some major air.
Purple Crush closed with another up-tempo tune that really made the audience's sweat descend.

They'll be back on tour in July. That better be marked on your calendar!

33HZ pulled a Moloko and released a disc featuring tons of remixes of just one song. Here's what Purple Crush had to say:
