The Newspapers cover 'German Love'

(Yet another capture of Amanda Luna's)
Billy of the Newspapers alerted me to this when we were at a party at the Green House a few weeks ago and I overheard him talking about the house show he played on Clinton with Starfucker.
The Newspapers have just finished holing up in a studio for a few days recording their 5 track debut EP made up of their faster paced songs. Their mellower tunes should surface next year on a full-length after they finish touring in support of the EP.
So here is their cover - a sweet acoustic track recorded in GarageBand. Enjoy!:

You may notice their cover is a bit shorter than the original. Coincidentally, Josh aka Starfucker has done a reedit and the latest version of 'German Love' is of a similar length.

I happen to love the unabridged, unabashedly long version of the original German Love. The Newspapers' cover, while I'm admittedly unfamiliar with their music, reminds me of a lame attempt at a good basement recording. They didn't even touch on the bloop/bleep/computer/feedback sounds that nuanced Starfucker's version. I love your blog, though.

i just wanted to note that recreating starfucker's exact sound was not really the goal of the recording and it was more of a spur of the moment tribute recorded one morning a few days before the house show.
