Wow! Not on the Guest List is One Year old today! CR hyphen AZY!
I don't have anything special to post in celebration, but am just so happy with everything that has happened as a result of this blog! It's funny - when I first started it my mom and I were talking and there was a mention "if only you'd started it sooner seeing as blogs are kind of over - at least new ones."
I remember being in Glasgow and publishing my magazine Toaster back in 2005 and early 2006. With every upcoming issue it was always such a struggle selling enough ads to cover the printing costs and the budgeting for color and pagination and all along Leigh French, my fairy godfather, would be there telling me I should just ditch the printed format and move to the web and have it be about music as I experience it. He was right all along.
This site also would not exist without The Swish Blog and Smashed Robot!
This blog has opened up so much to me! I have met too many amazing people through this and have had so many amazing opportunities!
So shout outs to everyone who has sent me an email even though I can really SUCK at replies, everyone who has left a comment on a post, this site's subscribers - thank you so so much, all my NotGL myspace friends esp. the one's who have left comments there, the person in Albuquerque, NM - you know who you are even if I don't, everyone who has linked NotGL, everyone in Portland who reads this, and everyone else. Thank you so much! Expect Not on the Guest List to get better better!
This blog will be back to regularly scheduled posts within the next few days. Some unexpected things came into my life recently - hence the disappearance, but everything seems to be becoming a more normal type of hectic now - sooner than expected. There's so much to go up! Three audio interviews, many many live reviews (I'll be going back quite a few weeks y'all), a mixtape podcast, and guest podcasts should be back with a bang - wait until you see who's been lined up! Just wait!!!
And know that this blog is about to get Kitsune heavy in seemingly every way hahaha - I really should change my name to Nilina Maison-Campbell...
***If you live in Portland, make sure to come say "hi" at Klaxons on Friday! I'll be up at the front taking photos and getting my dance on.***
