NEWSFLASH: I blog at LocalCut

Pantherlocalcut
(Read my Panther news entry that was super fun to write on my way back from Decibel Fest on Greyhound)

"Do I have your attention?"

The highschool drop-out strikes again! You can now find me four times a week over at LocalCut.com - keeping it local and still finding a way to weave in all things indie and electro. I'm also writing for LocalCut's parent Willamette Week which is INSANE...ly awesome! Heart that paper!

Two of my LocalCut MP3 posts:
The Chromatics, “In the City,” from In the City 12-inch
The Black Black Black, “The In,” from Self-titled 7-inch

I'm interviewing DJs too - so far I've traded questions and answers with DJ Linoleum and the Gossip's Brace Paine aka The Chain.

And of course some show reviews - from Bonde do Role to Animal Collective (which could very well be about Be Your Own Pet) - oh and the beautiful awkwardness of Improv Logic who I got some good gossip on this Saturday.

I am super super indebted to Casey Jarman for inviting me to join the team!

So yeah - with the lack of updates on NotGL, it may seem as though I don't go out anymore, but I've been going out a storm! I actually have already written entries about the other two days of Bumbershoot and I'd like to put up something about Decibel Fest as I went to the first two days, but didn't bump into Joee Irwin.

I've got some super rad guest podcasts from Bang Gang and Foals sitting in my inbox so expect some more regular postings to follow shortly.

Oh - keep a look out for my feature interview with Simian Mobile Disco on Pitchfork on October 16th. I may be posting polaroids over here to coincide with it's posting. As many know, I am uber in love with James Ford. I'll recount the story next week as to why.

Tyler Fedchuk, "it's about that time for me to Holla!"

I am a Fedchuk fangirl, but how could I not be? Everything he touches is golden - you can't go wrong following his taste.

I mean this is the man whose podcasts on Smashed Robot have introduced me to, aside from Fox N' Wolf and Soldout, the acts that have come to define my musical life ie Supersystem, Metronomy, and even this blog's namesake Marcos Dos Santos' 'Not on the Guest List'. Most recently he's been right yet again about Thunderheist and Sibylle Baier (oh, how I want to emulate her).
He's even good at recommending the best songs to make out to.

It's super cool getting a message from time to time wondering about info or if I think Portland would want a Fox N' Wolf show. Um. . . Yeahhh!! They're looking to be coming through this fall at last notice with Tyler acting as DJ and tour manager - west coast and east coast dates. Stay tuned.

I also enjoy the soap-opera drama of his 1/2ALIVE night he helps put on every Friday.  Long story short - they have had to move venues a million-and-ten times in the recent weeks as you may be aware of if you read his myspazz bulletins, but that's just the surface - you'll have to ask him about the rest.  It's too funny! It pretty much delves into cable access territory and involves a bag of crack.

You can't say Tyler is good at reedits, because he's not - he's amazing!

'Sexyback' - Justin Timberlake vs Metronomy MP3

I was so proud when this ended up everywhere, even on retailer Fred Flare's website.

'Get on the Rave' - Quad City vs MSTRKRFT MP3

First this was only on the 1/2ALIVE myspace, but then it was put up on RadioZero as a peace offering of sorts I think :)

Friend him.

After a long absence, he just put up podcast #40 and #41 - check them out.

But RadioZero is not Tyler alone, it's also the incredibly awesome Paul Devro, also of the MadDecent blog.

If it hadn't been for Swish Blog (who actually once got a mention on Smashed Robot) posting a Who Made Who track a couple years ago, which led me to BeatStreet.ca, which then led me on a manhunt for info about Sexual Harassment, I don't know how long it would've taken me to make my way around to his blog. When I got there, I knew it was fate - he was one of the few people aside from me who had heard of New Young Pony Club at the time. (I mean there was very little on the internets, a photo hadn't even surfaced yet (because they were too "shy" they told me), and I turned up to a super early gig of theirs and their friends asked how I could be there and not be a close friend - they couldn't fathom how I had heard of them otherwise. For the record, I got clued into them via the Piccadilly Records site)

As my current plans go, I will be partying it up in Vancouver B.C. at a 1/2ALIVE night July 6th!

And what's that I see? He had a secret MSTRKRFT party on Monday?

I've made many mentions of him on this blog already, so let's take a tour of a few:
